Tai Chi & Qigong

Dating back to ancient East Asia, Tai Chi and Qigong are mind-body practices that incorporate breathwork, flowing motions, and energy flow techniques. Our Tai Chi instructors use elements of both traditions to synthesize “meditation in motion” classes. These sessions enhance our practitioners’ physical and mental health by reducing stress and anxiety, improving sleep quality, managing chronic pain, and more. Join a class to learn more.

Ashburn and Oakton, VA, Tai Chi and Qigong Classes

Our standard (not introductory) sessions follow a gentle, structured flow that allows you to ease into the practice. Here’s what you can expect:

01

Introduction and Warm-Up

Each class begins with a brief introduction (what Tai Chi is, where one must focus, etc.) followed by gentle warm-up exercises that loosen the joints, relax the muscles, and prepare the body for movement.

03

Tai Chi Accumulation and Tai Chi Flow

During forms practice, the instructor will guide practitioners through mindfulness exercises. This approach synchronizes practitioners’ minds with their bodies’ movements and helps them achieve mental clarity.

02

Tai Chi Forms Practice

The core of the class involves practicing Tai Chi forms, which are a series of slow, fluid movements that are performed in a sequence. The instructor will guide you through these movements, emphasizing proper breathing, posture, and relaxation.

04

Cool Down and Reflection

We end each session with gentle exercises to calm the muscles and mind. Some classes may also conclude with a short seated meditation to achieve a state of calm and reflection before participants leave.
